Wolves managed to strengthen toward the back-end of the transfer window in the summer.
The sale of Matheus Nunes accelerated this, with several deals following his departure.
But despite this, clear weaknesses remain, along with an eye on the stand-out performers who are already attracting outside interest.
So with this in mind, we have picked five players who are out of contract in 2024 that Wolves should target for a Molineux move.
Here are the five players we want Wolves to look at signing for free…

Gabriel Barbosa
Gabriel Barbosa is a Brazilian wonderkid who never quite lived up to his full potential. A £25 million move from Santos to Inter Milan at the age of 20 seemed to signal he was destined for the stars.
However just 10 appearances for the Italian club meant a return to Brazil and Flamengo awaited him. Here he has remained, scoring 139 goals and 38 assists in 242 games. Alongside 18-caps for Brazil resulting in five goals.
Now with his contract expiring at the end of 2024, he could be a January move for next season, but also could be available for cheap this season assuming he intends to depart.
Barbosa would bring some much needed goal scoring experience to this Wolves side and could be devastating up front with Pedro Neto and Hee-Chan Hwang either side.
Mehdi Taremi
Mehdi Taremi was linked with moves to some of Europe’s best last summer. His qualities speak for themselves, a forward as close to Harry Kane as you can find.
82 goals and 50 assists for Porto in Portugal according to TransferMarkt show how great he is, and like Barbosa, he would strengthen a position Wolves are craving.
His creativity and clinical instincts could be a massive bonus for the whole Wolves team, this would be an excellent deal.
Che Adams
If the two aforementioned options prove out of reach for Wolves, Che Adams could be the next best option.
Linked with a move in the summer, Adams is unlikely to remain at Southampton if they don’t get promoted.
He isn’t as prolific as the other two strikers however he has the benefit of being Premier League proven.
Tomas Soucek
A defensive midfielder who was once one of David Moyes’ most valued assets.
But following the departure of Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek has seen his importance diminished with Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse preferred.
Therefore he may be reluctant to sign a new deal, which would be good news for Wolves who could benefit from his defensive and offensive qualities.
Rafa
With Neto starting the season on fire, it has been accepted that he may attract interest from across the Premier League.
So if Neto goes, Wolves should move to bring in his Portuguese counter-part, Rafa, for free.
At 30-years-old, Rafa is in his prime for Benfica. Three goals and four assists in Liga Portugal this season already via TransferMarkt.
He would be a huge coup for Wolves if they could snap him up.
