There were lots of positives for Wolves on Tuesday night – and the return of Yerson Mosquera was certainly one of them.
Wolves went through to the third round of the Carabao Cup, after coming from behind to beat West Ham United at Molineux.
Jorgen Strand Larsen was the hero of the hour for Wolves, scoring twice in a couple of minutes.
Wolves won 3-2, and the hope is that the result will breed confidence going into Saturday’s Premier League game against Everton.
And one man who might hope to feature is Yerson Mosquera, who didn’t just come through unscathed against West Ham, but looked confident and fairly solid.
It was his first appearance for Wolves in a competitive game for 11 months, after he suffered ACL and MCL damage early in 2024/25.
And yesterday, the defender posted an emotional message to mark his personal comeback.

Yerson Mosquera sends message to Wolves fans after long awaited return from injury

Mosquera’s injury last season was a major shame.
He had already missed so much football for Wolves after picking up a serious hamstring injury shortly after signing, and then going out on loan.
It was the last thing he needed, but he’s worked hard to return and is now going to fight to get into the team and stay there.
He will have done his starting prospects no harm with his performance against West Ham.
While he was a bit wasteful with the ball when he pushed up the pitch, Mosquera looked solid defensively and fans will hope he can build on the performance. And he’ll no doubt hope for that too.
Yesterday, Mosquera took to Instagram to mark his return, writing the message to fans: “11 months of hard work, fighting against difficulties after my injury and having the opportunity to play an official match at home again, with our people is wonderful.
“Thank God to my family and everyone for the support and for giving me the confidence to return to the courts, happy with today’s result, happy to advance to the next round.”
Mosquera primed to replace Matt Doherty
It was a showing that Mosquera could be pleased with after so long out.
It was great to see the Colombia international back out there and fans will now hope to see him kick on.
Potentially, it may only be a matter of time until Mosquera becomes a Wolves regular again, and he could be primed to take Matt Doherty’s starting berth, although we know the manager loves the Irishman and he won’t make it easy for him.

Wolves are also expected to soon announce Ladislav Krejci as a new signing, so that will be more competition (albeit he’ll play on the left side or in the middle).
But Mosquera will be determined to make up for lost time, and him having fire in his belly can only be a big positive for Wolves.
