Yerson Mosquera scores first goal for FC Cincinnati against David Beckham’s Inter Miami

Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera scored his first goal for FC Cincinnati over the weekend – against David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

The youngster was on target for the MLS club in their game on Saturday night.

Mosquera was on hand to head in at the near post from a corner, deep into stoppage time in the first-half.

Mosquera was able to find a bit of space, and jumped high to head in. It was poor defending to give the Colombian space, but a good header nonetheless from the Wolves man.

That was Mosquera’s sixth appearance for Cincinnati, and he has been making a good early impression playing on the left of a back three.

He has been a part of four clean sheets so far, and he has made a real difference to the team.

He said after the game (via FC Cincinnati official): “It’s incredible. It’s beautiful, this game is very important to us. It’s great that we were able to win this game, and for me to score a goal, that is amazing. I’ve scored one once before in a U23 Wolves match, but this is my first goal as a professional.”

The 1-0 win for Cincinnati condemned Inter Miami to their fourth defeat of the season.

Miami – owned by Beckham – have been struggling, and currently sit 10th after six games.

Mosquera’s winner actually sent Cincinnati to the top of Eastern Conference standings for the first time in the club’s history.

A great moment for Yerson Mosquera, whose loan stint with FC Cincinnati has started well

It is great to see good things happening for Mosquera.

He has been so unfortunate with injuries since making his £4.5 million move to Wolves back in the summer of 2021.

By many accounts he’s a great lad and really popular in the dressing room back at Wolves. So it’s brilliant to see him playing and making a difference.

He’s take real confidence from scoring his first professional goal and helping the team to a fourth clean sheet in six games.

Hopefully he can continue to turn in good performances, and eventually return to Wolves with some real momentum.
