Yerson Mosquera drops hint over Wolves future in nine-word message after Rayo Vallecano defeat

Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera has been linked with an exit this summer following a successful loan spell at Villarreal.

Despite the Old Gold’s pre-season defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, Gary O’Neil will have plenty of positives to take from the summer break.

One of Wolves’ positives is the emergence of Yerson Mosquera, who returned to Molineux following loan spells over the 2023/24 campaign.

After excelling in the second half of the season at Villarreal, the Spanish club made their desire to sign the defender known however, the Colombian has now hinted at where his future lies.

Yerson Mosquera makes hint at his Wolves future after Rayo Vallecano defeat

On Saturday afternoon, Wolves returned to Molineux to end their pre-season festivities with a friendly against LaLiga side Rayo Vallecano.

The game ended in a 1-0 defeat, in what was a below-par performance from the hosts who will need to up their level if they are to get a result against Arsenal next week.

Despite the loss, Mosquera took to Instagram to look towards the season opener against the Gunners, penning a nine-word message to Wolves fans.

The Colombian said, “Ready for what’s coming. Let’s all go together Wolves.”

Not much would be taken from the post apart from his excitement for the new season however, given the transfer speculation surrounding the 23-year-old’s future, his message was clear.

The centre-back all but confirmed his desire to stay at Wolves for the season ahead, which is superb news for the club given the potential that the player possesses.

Mosquera will be a crucial part of Gary O’Neil’s plans

After a strong half-season at Villarreal, playing in one of Europe’s top leagues as well as featuring in European competition, O’Neil will be delighted to have the defender back in his ranks.

In pre-season, Mosquera was described as a “Rolls-Royce” by journalist Nathan Judah, telling of his quality in Wolves’ back line.

Added to that, the 23-year-old paired well with Toti Gomes, which is a breath of fresh air for O’Neil, who plans to revert to a back four for the season ahead.

With Max Kilman’s departure in mind, it’s the perfect time for Mosquera to emerge as a more established player after his loan spell, with the 2024/25 campaign set to test the Old Gold.

Now, attention will turn to Arsenal, where the Colombia international will prepare to be tested against one of the strongest attacks in the Premier League.
