But he recently returned to training, and last night he was given 20 minutes or so by Paul Heckingbottom.

He entered the action with the Blades one goal up and also one man up, after Jake Livermore’s first-half red card.

United put together a wonderful move that Gibbs-White was heavily involved in. They worked the ball from side to side before the Wolves man got the ball into the box.

Gibbs-White ended up gathering the ball and shifting it across to Billy Sharp to score his second goal of the game.

Whether it was a heavy touch or a pass, it was an influential piece of play from Gibbs-White.

It was undoubtedly one of the best team goals of the season, and the result has lift the Blades up to 45 points – the same as Albion.

They sit tenth having now won their last four games. Given how tight the league is, they are actually only one point off the play-off places now.

A successful return to match action for Wolves star Gibbs-White

So Gibbs-White made a key contribution for Sheffield United on his return to action.

That is great to see. He could be forgiven for taking his time to get back up to speed.

But he’s got straight down to business again, and reminded everybody what an influential player he is within that team.

The second half of the season is really important for Gibbs-White.

There is potential for him to stake a massive claim to be a more regular member of the Wolves first-team next season.

Hopefully, more solid showings like last night will be in the offing for the 22-year-old as United push for promotion.
