A look back at the 10 worst-rated Wolves players over the past 10 years and where they have taken their careers since.
Over the years, Wolves have had plenty of players who have stood out. Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves are perhaps the most prominent names that come to fan’s lips in recent years.
However, there have equally been just as many poor performances which have let the Molineux faithful down.
In this article, we rank the 10 worst-performing players at the club over the last 10 seasons and see how their careers have progressed.
These ratings are based on WhoScored. A player must have made at least 10 appearances for the club and they cannot be on the list twice. It also only considers their league performances.
Santiago Bueno – 2023/24

Perhaps a surprise first inclusion on this list. In his first season at Molineux, Santiago Bueno earned an average rating of 6.3 from 12 appearances, including nine starts. This may be down to Wolves’ defensive woes going into the final part of the season.
The Uruguayan is still contracted to the Old Gold and is likely to play a part in the 2024/25 campaign.
Leon Clarke – 2014/15

Leon Clarke did not set the world alight when he returned to Molineux for his second spell. After helping the club back into the Championship, in the second tier, he struggled.
In 16 appearances, including five starts, he only scored twice averaging a 6.28 before he was shipped out on loan to Wigan.
After this, the striker was released and played for numerous clubs, most notably Sheffield United where he scored 19 league goals in the 2017/18 season. Since then, he has slowly made his way down the divisions and played for non-league side Mickleover during the 2023/24 campaign.
In May 2024, he announced his retirement from football.
Bjorn Sigurdarson – 2015/16

Making his way back into the Wolves’ first team in the 2015/15 season Bjorn Sigurdarson had a torrid time. The club were low on strikers therefore the Icelandic attacker was given a chance to redeem his Old Gold career.
In the second half of the campaign, Sigurdarson made 14 appearances including 11 starts. However, he was unable to find the net resulting in an average rating of 6.27.
At the end of the season, the striker was released and returned to Scandinavia playing for Molde. From here, Sigurdarson had a spell in the Russian league before once again returning to Molde.
The striker last played in Iceland in 2023 and has been without a club since.
Diego Costa – 2022/23

While Diego Costa may have helped Wolves survive during the 2022/23 campaign, his performances on the pitch weren’t anything to shout about.
In 23 appearances, including 16 starts, the Spaniard only scored one goal, in a 1-0 win against Brentford. This resulted in an average rating of 6.24
After this, he was released and returned to Brazil. He now plays for Gremio where he has regained his form in South America.

Hugo Bueno – 2023/24

Perhaps another surprise on this list. Hugo Bueno did not have his best season in the 2023/24 campaign. The Spaniard struggled to get into the starting XI, especially with the form of Rayan Ait-Nouri.
In 22 appearances, the wing-back made seven starts, with an average rating of 6.24.
However, Hugo Bueno is still likely to play a role next season with the youngster having plenty of potential.
Vitinha – 2020/21

The one that got away. Vitinha joined Wolves on loan in the 2020/21 campaign but did not impress in the Premier League.
In 19 appearances, including five starts, the midfielder struggled to make any sort of impact.
As a result, Wolves let him return to Porto where he regained his form. This led to a move to European giants PSG in 2022, where Vitinha still remains a key player for the Parisians.
Morgan Gibbs-White – 2018/19

Attempting to push into the first team, Morgan Gibbs-White was given many chances off the bench throughout the 2018/19 season.
The Wolves academy graduate made 26 appearances and five starts throughout the season. However, few of these performances impressed. This resulted in a 6.2 average rating.
Gibbs-White eventually left Wolves for Nottingham Forest in 2022 where he still remains.

Boubacar Traore – 2023/24

Another player who is still at Wolves, Boubacar Traore earned a 6.2 for his performances in the 2023/24 season.
The midfielder made 24 appearances and seven starts. Traore’s average rating was one of the worst in the Premier League, a surprising statistic considering he put in many good performances.
Michael Jacobs – 2014/15

Going all the way back to the 2014/15 season, Michael Jacobs struggled to adapt to the Championship after Wolves’ promotion.
The attacker wasn’t favoured by Kenny Jackett and he only made 12 appearances including three starts resulting in a 6.2 average rating.
As a result, he was sent out on loan to Blackpool before eventually joining Wigan Athletic permanently.
After five years at Wigan, where he won League One another two times, he spent three years at Portsmouth.
Jacobs now plays for Chesterfield where he has just helped the side regain their league status by winning the National League.
Fabio Silva – 2021/22

Perhaps the least surprising name on this list, Fabio Silva has consistently struggled at Wolves since joining the club.
While the striker has played in multiple bad campaigns, his worst was the 2021/22 season. Here, Silva made 22 appearances, including six starts but failed to score in any of his games.
This resulted in an average rating of 6.09, by far the lowest on this list.
The striker is still owned by Wolves and spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign out on loan to Rangers. However, Silva is believed to be wanted by both AC Milan and Sevilla.
