Wolves turn to exciting young goalkeeper who has 98% save percentage in 2025

Wolves continue to work away behind the scenes to get players through the door, but fans are getting frustrated.

Some Wolves players have returned to Compton Park for pre-season now, and Fer Lopez is the only new face.

The focus has mainly been on players leaving the club so far.

But the feeling is that the club will start to become busier in the coming weeks – they simply have to be. Because at the moment, the squad is nowhere near where it should be.

A number of positions are on the agenda right now for Wolves’ newly restructured leadership team.

And it’s thought a new goalkeeper could be on the cards, with speculation persisting over the future of Sam Johnstone.

And Wolves apparently like a youngster from Brazil.

It would seem that Wolves are looking at bringing in a younger goalkeeper this summer.

It was recently suggested that Wolves liked Joeri Heerkens of Sparta Prague, although it looks like Ajax will win the race to sign him.

A younger goalkeeper could serve as an understudy to Jose Sa, presuming there are no plans to offload him, and he wants to stick around.

It certainly makes more sense than having Sa compete with Johnstone, who has cost too much money to be a number two goalkeeper.

It has been claimed by journalist Nizaar Kinsella that Wolves are currently interested in Coritiba goalkeeper Pedro Morisco:

He said on X yesterday: “Wolves are among the clubs looking at Coritiba goalkeeper Pedro Morisco.

“Just one of many options as the Midlands club weigh up adding a young option to fight for places.”

Pedro Morisco is having a solid 2025

Morisco is certainly enjoying a positive 2025 so far.

The 21-year-old, who has been with Coritiba since the age of nine, has been fairly impenetrable this calendar year, keeping seven clean sheets in eight games in the Brazilian Serie B.

He’s also kept a further six clean sheets in 10 games in the Campeonato Paranaense.

According to fbref data, Morisco has also recorded an impressive save percentage of 97.6% so far.

So he appears to be an exciting young talent, but surely, Wolves need two of Sa, Johnstone, Dan Bentley and Tom King to leave in order to make space for Morisco.

One would imagine Johnstone will go, and King – who made his Wolves debut against Brentford in the final game of 2024/25 – may potentially also depart.
