Wolves transfer target Dani Carvajal struggles for Spain against Scotland

Reported Wolves transfer target Dani Carvajal had an evening to forget as Spain crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Scotland last night.

La Roja were comfortably beaten at Hampden Park, with Scott McTominay scoring another two goals.

It was a tremendous performance from Steve Clarke’s side, who have made a perfect start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

There were brilliant performances all over the pitch for Scotland, and Spain just simply couldn’t utilise the ball as well as their opponents.

Many of Spain’s players put in very poor displays at Hampden.

One man who struggled against Scotland was Carvajal, a player who has recently been linked with a move to Wolves.

Defensa Central reported a few weeks ago that Julen Lopetegui wants to sign the 31-year-old ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Well, if the Wolves manager happened to be watching last night, he might now be thinking twice.

But he probably struggled even worse than him.

Goal gave their player ratings for Spain. They handed Carvajal a 3/10 and said: “Brought on at half time. Horribly slow in the run-up to Scotland’s second. Legs looked gone.”

Carvajal was left for dead by Kieran Tierney on Scotland’s second goal.

It comes after he recently produced a really poor display for Real Madrid against Barcelona. Get Spanish Football News gave him a 3/10 for that game and said: “Struggled to deal with the physicality of Balde on the overlap, caught out for the final goal, and continues his worrying form going forward, adding next to nothing productive.”

Spain’s Dani Carvajal may not be the answer for Wolves, as he puts in another worrying display against Scotland

Carvajal made a good start to the current season but just lately his form has taken a real dip.

It was alarming to see how easy it was for Tierney to skip away from him last night for Scotland’s second goal.

If Nelson Semedo leaves Molineux in the summer, his energy will need to be adequately replaced.

It looks as though Carvajal may not be the right player for Wolves.
