Wolves transfer news: Wanderers would be in the mix for Kalvin Phillips

Wolves would reportedly be in the mix for Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips if he becomes available this summer.

That is according to 90min, who have suggested he is now ready to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Phillips has endured a tough time since completing a move to the Premier League champions from Leeds United for £42 million last summer.

He has barely featured, getting just 56 minutes of Premier League action so far. His only starts have come against Bristol City and Southampton in the cups.

He has really struggled for opportunities, with Pep Guardiola utilising Rodri at almost every turn.

Phillips did pick up a shoulder injury earlier this season, which almost cost him a place in England’s World Cup squad. But he just managed to make it in.

And just last week, Phillips again made it into the England squad, despite his lack of minutes for City.

And Wolves are apparently one team who could be in the mix to sign him if he becomes available.

There is also interest from Newcastle United and Leicester City. In January, his former clubs Leeds made an offer to take him back, and West Ham United also attempted to get him.

Apparently, City would not stand in Phillips’ way if he wanted to go.

It is stated City could even sanction a loan move with a view to a permanent deal.

Wolves should definitely see about potential deal for Kalvin Phillips

It has not been a very good stint so far for Phillips at Manchester City.

He has really struggled to break into their starting XI.

Rodri is obviously one of the top holding midfielders in world football so it was always going to be difficult.

But it is still surprising that he has played as little as he has.

Phillips was absolutely superb at Leeds and Wolves ought to see about maybe taking him on loan with a view to buying him.

Wolves would need to ensure their survival. But he could be a great addition, especially since Ruben Neves could be leaving, and also Joao Moutinho and Matheus Nunes.
