Wolves are reportedly showing interest in Sporting CP winger Nuno Santos.
O Jogo reported this morning that Wanderers and also Nottingham Forest are in the running for the 28-year-old.
Santos’ current contract with Sporting runs until 2025, and he apparently has a buyout clause of around £52 million.
There is an offer on the table from the club to extend, which would see the player receive a salary increase.
Sporting know though that there is no chance of having another club trigger that clause.
O Jogo actually report that Sporting would be looking for around £13 million to sell.
This season, Santos is actually currently the highest scoring winger in the Portuguese top-flight with eight goals. O Jogo suggest he has actually been one of Sporting’s best players. He’s just one goal away from equalling his best tally in a season for the club.
Some may recall earlier this season an absolutely stunning goal he scored against Boavista.
Santos had took up a position on the edge of the box and saw the ball coming across along the ground.
He then proceeded to score into the top corner with a rabona. Many fans believe it will be a contender for the next Puskas award it was that good. The outrageous goal can be seen over at MARCA.
Santos also scored a delightful chip against Pacos de Ferreira at the weekend.
Nuno Santos at £13 million could be a decent signing for Wolves
Santos clearly has the capacity to produce a moment of magic.
But one of the most impressive things about him is actually the fact he is so durable – just like Wolves star Joao Moutinho, who’s made 212 appearances for Wolves since signing in 2018.
Santos has been with Sporting since August 2020, and has already racked up 134 appearances for the club. That is seriously good going.
And it is made all the more impressive because Santos has actually ruptured knee ligaments twice previously. Once in December 2015 and again in July 2018.
His recent record would suggest he is over those knee issues, and he’d potentially make a good signing for Wolves.
Wolves may have need for a new winger or two this summer.
Adama Traore is reportedly going to leave when his contract expires.
Pedro Neto has recently been linked with Arsenal. and Daniel Podence will only have a year left on his deal and Wolves may listen to offers.
