Wolves are reportedly now in advanced talks with Stoke City about a permanent deal for Matija Sarkic.
TEAMtalk are reporting this evening that Alex Neil’s side are keen to land the Montenegro international following his loan spell.
Sarkic joined the Potters in January, along with Ki-Jana Hoever.
He made eight appearances, with his last coming against Sunderland in March.
Unfortunately for Sarkic, 25, he suffered a quad injury.
It is the third time he’s picked up an injury during a loan spell, having suffered setbacks at Birmingham City and Shrewsbury Town.
Sarkic may have only made eight appearances for Stoke, but he made a real impression on Neil.
It is stated that he is the driving force behind the talks. He apparently sees him as his No 1 goalkeeper in the Championship from next season onwards. Jack Bonham is set to be the number two.
It was reported yesterday that Sarkic was heading for the exit at Molineux.
Julen Lopetegui green-lighted a move for Dan Bentley in January, and he has just put in a fantastic performance against Manchester United.
There is a good chance he will start the last two games against Everton and Arsenal.
Sarkic is thought to be very keen to be a number one goalkeeper. Were he to stick around at Molineux next season, he would only be third-choice.
Matija Sarkic needs permanent Stoke move as report claims Wolves and Potters are in advanced talks
So it looks as though Sarkic could well be heading for the exit.
it will be interesting to see what kind of fee Stoke would pay for the star.
Sarkic is now a proven performer at Championship level. He’ll have two years left on his contract with Wolves this summer, so there is money to be made on the player.
It’s a move he needs to make really. Sarkic is 25 now, and him becoming number one at Wolves just doesn’t feel realistic.
Hopefully he completes a permanent move to Stoke, really establishes himself and goes on to have a great career.
