Wolves tell fans they have signed a player who is actually ‘electric’

The transfer window closed a few days ago and it was certainly a busy one for Wolves.

Wanderers kicked off their summer by signing three new players; Rodrigo Gomes, Pedro Lima and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Tommy Doyle’s loan move was also turned permanent.

The club then went quiet for weeks, before springing into action at the end of the window.

After signing Bastien Meupiyou with a day to go, Wolves then brought in Sam Johnstone, Carlos Forbs and Andre.

Wolves did try to land another centre-back with experience, but could not get a deal for anyone over the line in the end.

Time will tell if this was a successful window or not for Wolves – but fans are quite intrigued to see how all the new faces will get on.

Loanee Carlos Forbs, who Wolves stand to buy for £11.4 million, could potentially make for an exciting addition – and the club have now shared what fans can expect from him.

A few weeks ago Wolves bid farewell to Pedro Neto, who signed for Chelsea.

Neto couldn’t pass up the opportunity, and the money was too good for Wolves to turn down in the end.

The Portuguese could be a miss, but in Carlos Forbs there is potential for fans not to get too down about the former Molineux number 7.

Earlier today, Wolves released some information on Forbs regarding his style of play, to give supporters a bit more of an insight into the club’s newest addition.

It sounds very much as though he will be similar to Neto stylistically.

Wolves say in their scout report: “An electric winger throughout his time at Man City’s academy, Forbs continues to show stunning pace and dynamism since he transferred to the men’s game. The 20-year-old is still young but has been a physical threat throughout his footballing life.

“At Wolves, Gary O’Neil requested the recruitment team looked at bringing a pacey winger to the club who can be a threat in one-v-ones and offer an outlet on the counter, similar to what Pedro Neto gave the team before his departure to Chelsea this summer.

“Forbs was thought to suit the style of player O’Neil wanted, with his speed, directness and confidence offering another good weapon for the head coach to choose from.”

As we know, O’Neil really likes players who will do the dirty work.

He is very big on people working hard out of possession, and it sounds like Forbs will be a player who is quite happy to track back.

The club add: “The winger is also equally willing to use his pace defensively as well, with his pressing from the front as well as working back to help the team.”

Forbs can become a crowd favourite

Despite some concerning comments from Marco van Basten earlier this week, Forbs has the potential to become a real favourite at Molineux.

The youngster seems to be a real livewire type, and Wolves fans are no strangers to such players.

Neto was hugely popular for his quick and direct he was, and Adama Traore was another player many Wolves fans found exhilarating.

Forbs sounds like he could be a good fit in this Wolves system under O’Neil, and it is encouraging to hear that he is someone who will also track back, as well as threaten in the final third.

There is real competition for minutes in the forward areas so Forbs has a battle on his hands. But he’ll get the back of the fans and hopefully, he will make the impact everyone hopes he can.
