Young striker Goncalo Ramos, who was linked with Wolves in the summer, last night fired a hat-trick for the Portugal U21s.
The Benfica player was the star of the show in a thumping 6-0 win over Cyprus.
It is now five straight wins for Portugal, and it really has been a fantastic qualifying campaign from Rui Jorge’s side.
In their five games, they have scored 20 goals and not conceded once. They have also had nine different goalscorers.
Ramos took just six minutes to get on the scoresheet for the first time, smashing home a knockdown into the top corner.
His second came in the second-half and was a lovely right-footed finish from the left side into the far corner.
And for his hat-trick goal, he bravely nipped in ahead of the goalkeeper and looped the ball over him.
It was a wonderful display from Ramos, who is currently the leading goalscoring in the competition with eight goals.
He is certainly looking extremely promising at this moment in time, and his red-hot form comes after Wolves expressed an interest in signing the player in the summer.
Wolves should monitor talented Goncalo Ramos after hat-trick
It was a highly impressive performance from Ramos, who seems to really come alive when playing for his country.
He hasn’t actually scored for Benfica yet this season, but seems to relish playing with the U21s under Jorge.
Wolves ought to keep an eye on his development.
Ramos supposedly has an eye-catching release clause of £103 million. But that is mainly designed to allow Benfica to hold all the power over the player.
