Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic to undergo surgery for torn ACL

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic will be undergoing surgery, as he has actually torn his ACL.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury during the 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Kalajdzic was making his debut for Wanderers just days after completing a move from German side Stuttgart.

He was named in the starting XI by Bruno Lage, and fans were buzzing to get a glimpse of their new centre-forward.

But towards the end of the first-half, Kalajdzic landed awkwardly when trying to control a high ball under pressure from two Saints defenders.

He received some brief treatment, and actually continued playing until half-time where he was then substituted.

Wolves released an update on Sunday evening stating that he had suffered an ACL injury. The club said that he would be seeing a specialist today

And now Sport Bild’s chief reporter Tobi Altschaffl has claimed Kalajdzic has actually torn the ligament. He will now have an operation this week.

We await information on when the player might be back.

But tearing the ligament is not good news at all for Kalajdzic and Wolves.

A nightmare for Wolves and Sasa Kalajdzic with striker reportedly set to undergo surgery

Wolves’ update yesterday was a little vague, but this claim from Altschaffl makes for grim reading.

It seems Wanderers are going to be without Kalajdzic for a long time which is massively frustrating given the money that was just spent on him.

He was seen as the answer to Wolves’ goalscoring issues.

The club is now back to square one.

There is currently heavy speculation that Diego Costa will be joining the club as a free agent to replace Kalajdzic.

It’s a risky move by Wolves, but hopefully the 33-year-old will surprise a few people.
