Wolves striker Fabio Silva destroys Belarus U21s with two goals and two sensational assists

Wolves striker Fabio Silva has had a bit of tricky start to the new season at club level – but fans will be delighted with what he did today for the Portugal U21s.

The 21-year-old has managed to score just one goal so far for Wanderers.

That came in the Carabao Cup against Blackpool a couple of weeks ago.

He’s still waiting for his first of the season in the Premier League.

Silva has had a few chances under Gary O’Neil, but he has quite managed to take his opportunities when they have come.

He struggled against Crystal Palace last time out.

However today, Silva has put in an absolutely tremendous display for his country.

Today, the Portugal U21s played Belarus in a Euro qualifying match.

Silva was on target last Friday against Andorra, and he also made an assist in that game.

And today, Silva continued his great form – and really put Belarus to the sword.

Portugal ran out 5-0 winners and Silva had a hand in all but one goal.

He opened the scoring himself after just nine minutes, heading in at the back post.

He then assisted Henrique Araujo with a fantastic backheel. The ball was played into him and without even thinking he just helped the ball on its way through for Araujo to score with an easy finish.

Silva then added his second of the game, converting clinically from the penalty spot after winning the spot-kick himself.

And then just before half-time, Silva made his second backheel assist of the match, brilliantly exchanging passes with Joao Marques.

Late on, with Silva off, Rodrigo Gomes put the icing on the cake for Portugal.

It was a devastating first-half showing from Silva, with the young Belarus defenders unable to contain him.

And the positive for Wolves is that Silva actually went off at half-time, meaning he should be coming back to Molineux relatively fresh.

Silva’s four goal involvements today can be seen over at A Bola.

A highly encouraging performance from Wolves star Silva

This is amazing to see from Silva.

He tends to play pretty well for the Portugal U21s when their games come around, and this was one of his best displays for them to date.

It is very encouraging to see him have such a big impact.

The goal now for Silva is to try and replicate this level in the Premier League, which is obviously no easy task.

The English top-flight is a complete different kettle of fish.

But the signs are there with Silva.

Hopefully, it will not be long before he starts firing for the Wolves first-team.
