Wolves stat provides good omen vs Tottenham as Vitor Pereira seeks first Premier League points

Wolves beat Everton 2-0 on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, but the Old Gold’s Premier League form is still a concern.

Vitor Pereira has yet to pick up a point, but his tactical flexibility could improve players and provide a solution to their struggles.

Next up is a tough trip away to Tottenham Hotspur, who currently sit third in the Premier League, and Wolves earning their first points will prove to be a difficult task.

However, a couple of stats could provide hope for the Old Gold and signal bad news for their opposition on Saturday night.

Wolves are unbeaten in last five meetings vs Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are a team in good form, picking up ten points from a possible 15. Only Liverpool have more points than the Lilywhites.

In contrast, Wolves are the only side on zero points and sit last in the table.

On the surface, Pereira’s side enter the game as heavy favourites to lose, but recent history could prove otherwise.

In the last five meetings between Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves, the Old Gold have not lost a single game.

Wolves have won four of those fixtures, with the remaining fixture ending in a draw. The most recent matchup between the two was a 4-2 win for Vitor Pereira.

Of course, there are a lot of contextual differences now.

Rayan Ait Nouri scored and assisted in the last match, and Matheus Cunha also got on the scoresheet. Both players are no longer at Wolves.

Additionally, Ange Postecoglou is not Spurs manager anymore, with Thomas Frank taking over from the Australian in the summer.

However, despite the managerial change, another stat still provides hope for Vitor Pereira.

Thomas Frank has a losing record vs Wolves

Thomas Frank has faced Wolves frequently during his time as a manager.

He has faced them ten times, making the Wanderers his joint second-most-played opponent.

In that time, the Dane has lost more times than he has won and boasts just 1.2 points per game against Wolves.

With the Molineux side seemingly being a bogey team for both Tottenham and Frank, there may be some hope in Saturday’s 8pm kick-off.

One thing is for sure: Pereira must start the Wolves players who are in good form if they stand any chance of a shock result.
