Theo Corbeanu came to Blackpool’s rescue yesterday, as he struck a last-minute equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Bristol City.
The Wolves youngster, who is on loan at Bloomfield Road, was on hand to score for the Tangerines for the second running, after he bagged in another 3-3 draw with Burnley.
Blackpool took an early lead through Josh Bowler, before City levelled through Tommy Conway.
Blackpool then regained the lead thanks to Jerry Yates’ flicked finished. But the visitors responded again, this time through Antoine Semenyo.
The Robins went ahead for the first time in the match thanks to an own goal from Marvin Ekpiteta, and it looked as though Michael Appleton’s side were heading for a third Championship defeat.
But Wolves’ Corbeanu popped up for the hosts with a fantastic chipped finish with his left foot.
The star pressed high and was rewarded for that as he dispossessed Zak Vyner.
It was not a good ball to him from Andy King, who had only just come on for City.
Corbeanu showed brilliant composure with the finish.
It was not so dissimilar to the goal he scored the previous weekend against Burnley – pressing high and winning the ball, before providing a clinical finish.
Speaking after the game, Corbeanu said (via Blackpool official): “To come on and make an impact in the way I did and to see the stadium erupt in the way it did was one of the best moments of my career so far.”
Theo Corbeanu finding his feet in the Championship as star scores last-gasp equaliser for Blackpool
It looks as though Corbeanu has really settled at Blackpool which is great to see.
The Championship can be tough, but it seems he’s enjoying a productive spell so far.
It’s good to see the youngster working hard to make things happen on the pitch.
Pressing can be a thankless task, but Corbeanu has now managed to score a couple of goals through determination to regain the ball for his team.
Hopefully he can continue to do that. With the World Cup not too far away, there’s a very good chance he could end up on that plane for Canada.
