Wolves star spotted back in training at Compton after injury as fans await big Gary O’Neil decision

Wolves fans are looking ahead to this weekend’s Premier League game against Brighton, one injured player appears to have trained ahead of the clash.

Wolves must dust themselves down after the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, which saw John Stones score right at the death in controversial fashion.

Gary O’Neil changed the formation, going with a back three and wing-backs. Wolves looked much more solid in that system and fans expect it to stick around.

Wolves remain winless in the league and another hard game lies in wait against Brighton. But there were positive signs against City and fans will be cautiously optimistic.

It will be particularly interesting to see who O’Neil starts in net, after Jose Sa shone in the defeat to City.

It looks as though he will indeed have to choose between him and Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone missed the game with Manchester City due to injury, after picking up a knock over the international break.

It was reportedly a small adductor injury that forced him to miss Sunday’s game.

Sa came in for his first game since the Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton. Fans noted Sa looked like he was lacking confidence against Brighton, but against City he seemed defiant, and produced a string of great saves.

Alan Shearer branded Sa ‘incredible’ in terms of the saves he made, and selected him in his latest Premier League Team of the Week.

Ahead of the game with Brighton, Wolves have released some pictures of training at Compton Park this week.

Interestingly, it looks as though Johnstone has recovered from his knock as he can be seen in some images, training as normal alongside Sa, Dan Bentley and Tom King.

It now remains to be seen who O’Neil chooses against Brighton. Some fans felt O’Neil’s comments about Sa meant he would be starting Johnstone.

Sa must start over Johnstone against Brighton

Many Wolves fans will be deeply unhappy if O’Neil chooses Johnstone to start against Brighton on Saturday.

The Portuguese stopper could not really have played any better against Manchester City, and was key in keeping Wolves in the contest right until the end.

Many simply feel it would not be fair for Johnstone – who has not particularly impressed since his arrival – to come straight back into the team.

O’Neil’s comments about Sa and the goalkeeper situation were a little vague after the loss to City.

He said that he did not have a headache over the pair, and some have taken that to mean that Johnstone will be straight back in against Brighton.

Andy Thompson and Lee Naylor believe Sa should start against Brighton as he has earned it, and few would disagree with the former Molineux full-backs.
