Wolves star seemingly hasn’t trained yet this week ahead of Coventry clash

Wolves are gearing up for a huge game this weekend against Coventry City in the FA Cup quarter-final – and there is no sign of Craig Dawson in the latest batch of training photos.

Wanderers have the chance to reach a semi-final at Wembley, as they take on the Championship outfit at Molineux on Saturday.

Wolves have beaten Brentford, West Bromwich Albion and Brighton to reach this point, and there is a serious opportunity here for Gary O’Neil‘s side.

Coventry are a good side though, and are currently ninth in the Championship and not too far away from the play-off places.

It will be far from an easy game, as the Sky Blues seek to cause an upset.

As Wolves fans well know, there is something of an injury crisis at the moment – and it looks like Craig Dawson could still be touch and go for this weekend…

Dawson did not play for Wolves last weekend in the 2-1 win over Fulham.

Ahead of the game, Gary O’Neil stated that the 33-year-old had been struggling with a groin injury, and so Santiago Bueno deputised.

The Uruguay international gave a good account of himself, and will likely start if Dawson is not passed fit.

The club have today released some new training photos – and there is no sign of Dawson anywhere.

Of course, the former West Ham United defender could yet return to training between now and Saturday’s game, and this does not necessarily mean he won’t be playing on Saturday.

O’Neil will speak to the media on Friday to provide updates ahead of the game, and he will no doubt provide supporters with some information on £45,000-a-week star Dawson’s condition.

And of course, there is no Pedro Neto or Hwang Hee-chan, with both forwards recovering from hamstring injuries.

O’Neil will be hoping for full Dawson recovery

As well as Bueno played against Fulham – and Andy Thompson reckons he could be giving the manager a selection headache – O’Neil probably has everything crossed that Dawson will be available for Saturday.

You get the feeling the manager would like to play Dawson even if he isn’t 100% match-sharp.

Dawson has had a huge impact on Wolves’ backline, and he is a man for big occasions and Saturday is certainly one of those.

Dawson has already been talking up the FA Cup and he will be determined to be fit for the game with Coventry.
