Wolves captain Max Kilman has sent a message on social media after yesterday’s sickening 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.
Wanderers’ unbeaten run in the Premier League is over, and the defeat to the Blades happened in very controversial fashion.
Wolves lost 2-1, with the Blades converting a 100th-minute penalty, with Fabio Silva adjudged to have fouled George Baldock.
A penalty was given and the on-field call by referee Robert Jones was upheld by VAR Chris Kavanagh. But replays clearly showed Baldock was already going down before the contact from Silva.
Gary Lineker called it a ‘stinking decision’, and his Match of the Day analysts Martin Keown and Danny Murphy also firmly stated that it was not a penalty.
Many Wolves fans are now sick to the back teeth of these decisions going against the team and costing the club potentially crucial points.
Even captain Kilman expressed his frustrations in a message he sent on social media…
Wolves captain Max Kilman sends message after yet another VAR shocker

Kilman, who Wolves valued at £40 million in the summer, is usually a fairly calm and considered individual, and someone who doesn’t tend to comment on controversial incidents that have taken place in games.
But the skipper simply couldn’t brush over the latest VAR shocker.
Taking to his Instagram Story, he wrote: “Not our day today. Very hard to take with decisions going against us. Thank you to the travelling fans for your support. We go again.”
The penalty decision against Silva is the fourth controversy Wolves have had so far this season.
In the very first game against Manchester United, Wolves were not given a penalty for a clear foul by Andre Onana on Sasa Kalajdzic.
Wolves were then stung by a very frustrating handball call against Joao Gomes at Luton Town. This was apparently correct in law, but it was widely considered absurd.
And last weekend against Newcastle United, a penalty was awarded for an apparent foul by Hwang Hee-chan on Fabian Schar. That was almost identical to the Silva one yesterday.
Wolves players must be absolutely sick of VAR
So Kilman has acknowledged the incompetence of the officials. Nelson Semedo also expressed his frustrations, as did manager Gary O’Neil.
It must be so frustrating for them. They work so hard throughout the week in training, making sure they’re in the best place possible to take points from a game end then something ridiculous happens, and the players come away with nothing. It doesn’t need to happen, which is the most frustrating part.
As O’Neil has said, Wolves might be six points better off now, had there been some competence. That is an absolutely massive difference.
But at the same time, Wolves do need to improve. Ideally, O’Neil’s side will put themselves in positions where these decisions won’t be so costly.
