Wolves supporters have been propelled onto cloud nine since Vitor Pereira arrived in December, with the Old Gold showing immense improvement across the pitch.
It’s crazy to think that Wolves were below Leicester City when Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil only four months ago, and now the Wanderers are 23 points above them in the table.
Wolves are the most in-form team in Europe after winning six successive matches, and several players have been the driving force behind that run.
Matheus Cunha was phenomenal against Leicester on Saturday, supplying a goal and two assists, while Jorgen Strand Larsen is in the form of his life.
Strand Larsen equalled Raul Jimenez’s debut campaign at Molineux after netting his 13th goal, but one other star has arguably been more important than the Norwegian.

Andre tops Premier League charts for possession won in the middle third
Andre was substituted at half-time under O’Neil on two occasions, as the English manager disrespected the Brazilian in those two moments.
However, since Pereira was thrust into the hot seat, the 23-year-old has made himself undroppable alongside Joao Gomes.
Providing a blend of incredible ball retention and tackling attributes, Andre has become one of the Premier League’s best in his defensive midfield position.
That is demonstrated by several metrics, but notably, the number of times he wins the ball back for his team high up the pitch.
As highlighted by Sky Sports, Andre has won possession more times in the middle third than any other Premier League player since Pereira arrived in December, even beating Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.
Possession won in the middle third since Vitor Pereira’s appointment |
Andre – 73 |
Moises Caicedo – 72 |
Sandro Tonali – 69 |
Christian Norgaard – 61 |
Idrissa Gueye – 57 |
The above statistic is impressive, as it shows his ball-winning class, but Andre is also outperforming Ruben Neves at Wolves across multiple metrics, and that explains how incredible he’s been.
Andre surely due a contract upgrade
Although Andre was only signed for £21 million in the summer, perhaps the midfielder should be offered fresh terms.
Ultimately, the Brazilian is going to attract unwanted transfer attention if he continues to deliver remarkable performances in the middle of the park.

His current reported contract of £35k-per-week, which lasts until 2029, is nothing compared to what some of the big clubs would be willing to offer.
Wolves gave Gomes a new deal in March, seeing his contract last till 2030, and the club should follow suit with his teammate.
