Hwang Hee-chan was visited by none other than South Korea legend Park Ji-sung at Compton Park this week – and the former midfielder is delighted to see the Wolves man thriving.
Hwang has enjoyed a magnificent season so far at Molineux, having found his goalscoring mojo.
He has scored seven goals across all competitions so far, and looks a threat whenever he gets the ball.
He’s already surpassed his tally from last season, and Hwang has the chance to make Wolves history this Saturday when Tottenham Hotspur come to Molineux.
Hwang recently equalled John Richards’ record of scoring in consecutive home games. Should he score against Spurs, that will be seven games in a row for Hwang, giving him the record outright.
This week, former Manchester United star Park paid a visit to Compton Park to see Hwang, and he’s been speaking about his compatriot…
Park Ji-sung elated for Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan after incredible start to 2023/24

Park is one of the most decorated Asian players of all-time.
He made his name at Manchester United, having played at Old Trafford from 2005 until 2012. He won four Premier League titles during his time at the club.
Park is an icon in South Korea, and he’s been speaking about the country’s new poster boy Hwang – and he is so pleased to see him thriving.
The 42-year-old said (via Wolves Express): “It’s been great (to catch up). I came for Hee-chan. All the players and staff seem to love him. I’m so proud of him.
“I’ve met him a few times. Every single season he improves himself and what he’s got. I’m looking forward to seeing where he is in the future. He’s been brilliant this season scoring lots of goals.
“He showed since he joined Wolves, every single season he improved a lot. This season he scores a lot of goals, which is good for him and the team as well.”
Lovely to hear from Park
It is fantastic that Park went to see Hwang at Compton this week and that will have been a privilege for the winger.
Park was a brilliant and underappreciated player in his playing days.
He is undoubtedly one of the most successful Asian players ever and a huge star back in his homeland.
It must be nice for Hwang to hear how proud Park is of him. Hopefully, this will give him a real boost ahead of the Tottenham game on Saturday.
Many Wolves fans are really hoping he gets on the scoresheet once again, so that he can break Richards’ record. That really would be some achievement, given it has stood for 50 years.
Given Spurs’ way of playing, there is a good chance he could do it.
