Wolves defender Nelson Semedo has shared his delight at playing under the guidance of Gary O’Neil, sharing the factor that makes playing under the boss “very easy”.
Wolves are relishing life with Gary O’Neil at the helm, with a host of players at Molineux seeing their performance levels rocket under the manager’s watchful eye.
Not many would have predicted that the Old Gold would have the prospect of playing in Europe next season, however, with the squad sitting one point away from the top seven, the dream could become a reality.
The Midlands club have had their chances of claiming a European finish calculated, with there plenty for O’Neil and his ambitious squad to aim for with 12 games remaining in the Premier League season.
One of the players who has improved under the manager is Nelson Semedo, who has recently claimed that he is playing his “best season” at Molineux following his arrival from Barcelona in 2020.
What Nelson Semedo said about Gary O’Neil
In an interview conducted by Sky Sports, the Portuguese right-back spoke highly of the work that the boss has done following his late arrival in the summer.
“Honestly, I think it is the best season that I am doing – and also the team is doing – since I am here.”
“As you can see, it is not like one or two players are doing well. All the players are doing well. Even the players who are coming from the bench are responding.”
It doesn’t take a lot of consideration to realise that the squad are enjoying life under O’Neil’s guidance, with the team already eclipsing their entire goal tally from last season under Julen Lopetegui.

What Nelson Semedo outlined as a key attribute to Gary O’Neil’s success
As well as explaining how much he is enjoying this season at Molineux thanks to the boss, Semedo outlined what makes the 40-year-old an “easy” manager to work with.
“It is very easy to understand the information he gives us.”
“I also think Gary still has that professional player mentality so he thinks a little bit like us. He knows how to explain things to us and help us to improve on the things he wants us to improve. That is the main thing.”
“He gives me the freedom to do whatever I want – with responsibility, of course. He trusts me a lot. Not only me but every player on the team. That is very important. It gives you, like, a boost to keep improving and improving.”
The impact that O’Neil has had on the squad in such a short time is a testament to his character and methods as a coach, which have been briefly outlined by Semedo.
Only time will tell just how far the Old Gold go this campaign however, even after 26 games, the Englishman should surely be a topic of conversation when it comes to assessing the manager of the season.
