While all eyes may have been on his Norwegian counterpart, Sasa Kalajdzic also played a role in Wolves’ incredible comeback win.
As you’re probably sick of reading, Newcastle are going after Jorgen Strand Larsen.
While that’s been going on, Wolves have been hot on the heels of a new striker signing. Genk’s Tolu Arokodare looks like the priority target after a collapse in negotiations for Christantus Uche.
Wolves have been making it clear that the targets being pursued are seen as backups.
This doesn’t bode well for Austrian target-man Sasa Kalajdzic.
Wolves signing a new striker could spell the end for Sasa Kalajdzic
Kalajdzic’s Wolves career has been plagued by injuries, with fans never getting to see him at the level he reached for Stuttgart, putting up 21 goal involvements in his best Bundesliga campaign.
And now, his time may be up.
That’s according to John Percy, who did a deep dive for The Telegraph into the biggest transfer stories at Wolves ahead of deadline day. He says: “New signings could enable Pereira to move some players out, including Sasa Kalajdzic.”
It would be a shame to see Kalajdzic go, having never had the chance to settle at Molineux.

That being said, the player has also expressed his desire to play for Austria at the World Cup next summer, something that would be put in jeopardy by another season warming the bench.
So now may be the right time to part ways.
If Jorgen Strand Larsen leaves, Wolves may need Sasa Kalajdzic
It’s difficult, nay, impossible to talk about Wolves’ striker options without acknowledging the 6’4″ elephant in the room.
Wolves remain firm on Strand Larsen staying at the club. But Newcastle are desperate and rich, and Fosun are a business.

It’s totally possible that a higher bid could change their minds, in which case, selling Kalajdzic all of a sudden seems very ill-advised.
To keep saying ‘watch this space’ is bound to grow tiresome for fans, but the rest of Wolves’ window really depends on this one situation. If Jeff Shi and the ownership can stand firm in their rejection of Newcastle, a move for Kalajdzic is best for everyone.
If things change, he may have to lead the line for Wolves against Everton this weekend.
