Wolves staff are reportedly really excited about the potential of 17-year-old Leon Chiwome.
The Express & Star have reported that the youngster has caught the eye of coaches at Molineux, and there are very high hopes for the attacker.
Earlier this year, Chiwome bagged his first professional contract at Wolves.
He’d had an impressive first seven months at the club, and Wolves officials decided to act.
Chiwome signed for Wolves from AFC Wimbledon in July 2022, having been scouted while playing for Alfold FC and the Sussex Schools FA team.
Chiwome has already represented the U18s and the U21s for Wolves and has apparently has ‘thrived’ in his new environment
Wolves’ academy manager for football Jonathan Hunter-Barrett previously said of Chiwome: “I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for Leon at a great football club. He’s a keen worker, great shape and size, knows where the back of the net is and really athletic.
“He’s progressed very well in such a short period of time having already represented the under-18s, under-21s and also England at youth level.
He’s definitely got a lot of potential and it’s great that everyone internally and externally can see that.
“He’s come in and progressed quicker than we actually envisaged. He’s got that real desire to improve which has helped and has been like a sponge since he’s come in.”
Chiwome has been so good recently, he has just been called up by England for this month’s U17s European Championships.
England face Croatia today, the Netherlands on Sunday and Switzerland next Wednesday.
Remember the name: Leon Chiwome
So it looks like there’s a relatively new youngster to look out for at Wolves.
Chiwome is seemingly developing at a really exciting rate.
Wolves’ academy has been in a good place lately. The likes of Chem Campbell, Hugo Bueno, Dexter Lembikisa, Luke Cundle and Joe Hodge have all had first-team chances, which will encourage Chiwome and others.
The Express & Star say he is one to keep an eye on in particular, as the club look to open up a pathway.
