Wolves have uploaded a new TikTok video that showcases the huge strides that have been made in retaining possession of the ball under Julen Lopetegui.
Wanderers had their best result of the season on Saturday against Liverpool.
Wolves ran out 3-0 winners at Molineux, which was hugely satisfying giving the club’s exit to the Reds in the Carabao Cup.
Hwang Hee-chan forced an own goal from Joel Matip to get the ball rolling.
New signing Craig Dawson then scored on his debut for the club, before Ruben Neves sealed the points in the second-half with a brilliant breakaway goal.
Wolves were fantastic all over the pitch, and it was the kind of result and performance that has the potential to be a major turning point.
One of the best things about the performance was just how good Wolves were retaining possession.
Some excellent stuff was played in the first-half especially.
Yesterday, Wolves uploaded a new TikTok video which showcased their improvements on the ball.
For the final two minutes or so of the game against Liverpool, Wolves kept the ball, prompting ‘Ole’ chants from the Molineux crowd.
At one point during the phase of possession, stunned fans gave the players a standing ovation.
Wolves had the ball for such a long period, that they have actually sped up the TikTok video so it isn’t too long.
The 43-second clip features the goal song ‘L’amour Toujours’.
Wolves look much better in possession under Julen Lopetegui
That phase of play right at the end against Liverpool was a sight to behold.
Perhaps Jurgen Klopp’s side had thrown in the towel by that point. But it was still amazing to see Wolves keeping the ball from a team like Liverpool with such ease.
Confidence was clearly surging throughout the team given the 3-0 lead.
It is clear that Wolves are heading for a more possession-based approach under Lopetegui and it’s exciting to think about the kind of football we could be watching.
Wolves were not so easy on the eye under the previous two managers, but that could now be about to change.
