Wolves have been rocked by reports of interest in Matheus Nunes from Manchester City.
The maestro is now on the Premier League champions’ radar, as they seek to bolster their squad.
City have lost Kevin De Bruyne to injury and are looking for a replacement.
Nunes is an option, as is Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
It’s been suggested that Wolves would want at least £60 million to sell Nunes at this point in the window.
But given the need to pack out the squad, Wolves should definitely consider asking for a player or two in return…
Wolves should not discount a cash plus player deal involving Matheus Nunes
At this stage in the window it would be far from ideal to lose Nunes.
But it’s possible Molineux officials will be considering selling because of the financial situation.
It’s been reported that Wolves would indeed consider ‘inflated offers’ for certain players.
Maybe with Nunes, Wolves ought to consider asking for cash and player/s in return.
Earlier in the window, Wanderers were reported to be interested in two of the City’s highest rated youngsters: Tommy Doyle and James McAtee.
Both players spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and impressed.
McAtee is someone Wolves should definitely be keen on, after missing out on Alex Scott.
A potential opportunity for Wolves
In an ideal world, Wolves would not be fielding interest from City in Nunes right now.
He’s a key player, who many feel will step up following the departure of Ruben Neves.
But if Molineux officials are going to entertain this, then it’s surely worth seeing if City will throw a player or two into the deal.
McAtee and Doyle have obviously both been linked with Wolves in recent weeks.
Maybe Cole Palmer could be an option too, given City are about to sign Jeremy Doku. That said, Wolves are fairly OK in terms of wide options.
Another player who’s on the fringes at City is Kalvin Phillips. But again, another defensive minded midfielder is probably not needed.
So attacking midfielder McAtee and central midfielder Doyle should be enquired over.
But these young players would need to be in addition to a big transfer fee for Nunes.
