Wolves share heartwarming footage of Conor Coady after Molineux return with Leicester as Matt Hobbs embrace spotted

Wolves fans got to see Conor Coady make his return to Molineux on Saturday for the first time since leaving the club in 2023.

Conor Coady left Wolves after Julen Lopetegui decided the defender wasn’t going to be in his plans for the 2023/24 season. Lopetegui, of course, then ended up walking away from the job after Coady left, just days before the new season started.

Prior to that, Coady had left Molineux to join Everton on loan for the 2022/23 season, after Bruno Lage had ditched Wolves’ tried-and-tested back three/back five formation.

In the end, there was an acceptance that Coady’s time at Wolves was over.

Many Wolves fans still had heavy hearts when he left though, as he had served the club brilliantly and was a top captain.

And on Saturday, Wolves fans at Molineux serenaded Coady during the game with Leicester.

Now, the club have shared a bit of new footage of the former captain from Saturday.

After his warm reception on Saturday, Coady expressed his thanks on Instagram.

It was a nice moment for the defender, who was a very popular figure during his time at the club.

Earlier today, Wolves released some new footage of Saturday’s game with Leicester, releasing a video on YouTube titled ‘Coady returns as Wolves beat Leicester’.

Coady can first be seen in the video warming up. Then, he can be seen in the tunnel embracing Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Wolves also captured one moment fans started singing Coady’s song during the game.

Coady was applauded as the player’s came back out for the second-half, and he returned that applause.

Then after the final whistle, Coady applauded the fans again, waved and gave a double thumbs up, all while looking emotional at the response he was getting.

Then, just before heading down the tunnel, and in a move that some people will no doubt look into, Coady hugged Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs.

Wolves may reignite Coady interest this summer

On transfer deadline day, Wolves showed interest in re-signing Coady, with Craig Dawson to move in the other direction.

It never materialised, but ever since then, some Wolves fans have wondered if the former captain could actually return this summer.

Coady was said to be desperate to join Wolves.

But one of the biggest reasons Leicester didn’t want to lose Coady because of his status as a dressing room leader.

The Foxes have now been relegated and Coady’s future may become the subject of speculation this summer, when he’ll have just one year left on his deal.

With Dawson leaving, Wolves might just consider moving for Coady, if he is open to playing a bit-part role.
