Wolverhampton Wanderers have finished the 2020/21 season with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.
Sadly, there was to be no fairytale ending in Nuno Espirito Santo’s final game in charge of the club after four years.
Red Devils youngster Anthony Elanga have the visitors the lead with a brilliant header, although the marking from a Wolves perspective was slack.
But the hosts hit back through Nelson Semedo after great work from Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva.
He’s threatened quite often in games, but that was actually Semedo’s first gold in Old Gold.
A Juan Mata penalty restored United’s lead on the stroke of half-time
Unfortunately Wolves couldn’t find an equaliser, and fans can finally put this season behind them.
On the day, Semedo was arguably Wolves’ best performer.
Aside from his goal, the Portugal international was a constant threat and a bundle of energy down the right side.
Many players disappointed today, but Semedo really did impress and one wonders if the presence of fans put the wind in his sails.
Here’s what some people had to say about his lively performance:
Semedo looks like he benefits from having the crowd in. Jose looks like he would benefit from a career change.

Semedo has been great today. No coincidence that Traore has been off the pitch. If they are both at #wwfc next season they have to play on opposite flanks. Take each other’s space.

Semedo has been next level today. He’s got his goal, and he arguably deserves an assist or two as well.

Even without the goal, think Semedo has been Wolves’ best player today #wwfc
