Wolves were dealt a setback in their aim for Premier League survival on Tuesday night following their defeat against Fulham.
The Wanderers went into that clash at Molineux with a spring in their step after Matheus Cunha’s goal saw off Bournemouth last weekend.
But an inspired performance from Marco Silva’s men ensured Wolves were brought back down to earth, thanks to goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Muniz.
Fortunately, with Leicester City and Ipswich Town dropping points against West Ham and Manchester United, a loss to the Cottagers did no damage to their hopes of avoiding relegation.

Opta predict Wolves Premier League finish
The stakes are high for Wolves as we enter the business end of the campaign, and Vitor Pereira will be targeting some wins from their run of winnable fixtures.
In their next four matches, the Old Gold go up against Everton, Southampton, West Ham and Ipswich Town – four sides loitering in the bottom half of the table.
To forecast the outcome of the relegation battle, Opta’s supercomputer has run 10,000 simulations, all of which had the current bottom four dropping into the Championship.
While Southampton were relegated in every simulation, Leicester slumped back down into the second tier of English football in 97.6 percent of tests, and Ipswich went down in 96.6% of them.
It was good news for Wolves, though, who were only relegated 5.8% of simulations, suggesting they’re the best placed of any side to avoid the drop.
Matheus Cunha is the difference in the relegation battle
Matheus Cunha is the difference in the battle against relegation. While Ipswich have Liam Delap and Leicester have Jamie Vardy, neither can come close to the Brazilian’s levels.
Cunha has an impressive 12 Premier League goals to his name, scoring his latest in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
He’s someone who can produce a moment of magic out of nothing, and boasting him in their ranks is what sets Wolves apart from their rivals.
With big clubs interested in Cunha ahead of the summer, it seems improbable that he’ll be leaving Molineux, regardless of whether he keeps them up or not.
Wes Morgan has also labelled Cunha a ‘game-changer’, and the 25-year-old’s quality in the final third could be what fires the Old Gold to survival at the expense of Leicester and Ipswich.
