Wolves owner’s stance on Vitor Pereira after seven games and zero wins

It hasn’t been the best of starts to Vitor Pereira’s first full season at Wolves.

Vitor Pereira has struggled to find results in the opening weeks, still waiting on a first Premier League win.

But this was always going to be a tricky period after so many high-profile departures in the summer.

Still, the Premier League is unforgiving and often, time isn’t a luxury afforded to even the best of managers. Wolves did make the decision to extend Pereira’s deal, though, just a few weeks ago.

A new report has revealed how the club feels about that very decision.

Wolves owner hasn’t budged from stance on Vitor Pereira

The decision to offer Pereira an extension came at a strange time. It was before Wolves increased their level of performance, and some thought it was a rash move.

But Fosun are confident they made the right call, and they have been justified in the time since.

As Sky Sports reveals: “Head coach Pereira retains the backing of the Wolves board and is still highly regarded by the owner despite concern at their position at the foot of the Premier League table.

“They have given the Portuguese a new three-year contract amid a run of just two draws and five defeats from their opening seven league games. The two draws have come since he signed, with just one defeat, as well as a win in the Carabao Cup; seen internally as a slight improvement.”

There has been a noticeable improvement in recent performances, and Wolves seem confident in Pereira’s ability to keep on improving.

What it would take for pressure to mount on Pereira

By all accounts, Wolves are happy to stick it out with Pereira this season, but where does the end of their patience lie?

If the points trajectory continues in this direction, there will come a point where fingers will point to the manager. That could be after Christmas, if Wolves are still bottom. There are some real opportunities for points before then.

But the fans should take the same position as the club. Pereira is the man for the job, and support will help him on his quest for survival. As long as we don’t see the team regress to their early-season form, his place as manager should be safe.

There’s a long way to go in the season still.
