Wolves officials must be green with envy seeing what Troy Parrott has done in 2025/26

Wolves have struggled to score goals this season – but one man who has been on fire is Troy Parrott, a player the Old Gold reportedly looked into signing.

It has been a disastrous season so far for Wanderers, and goalscoring has proven to be a major issue.

So far after 11 games, Wolves have scored just seven goals, which is a terrible return.

The loss of key players such as Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia has proven very costly, and the likes of Jorgen Strand Larsen have really struggled as a result.

Strand Larsen may well have left Wolves as well, but in the end the club stood firm amid a pursuit by Newcastle United.

Wolves then signed Tolu Arokodare from Genk. And so far, Strand Larsen and Arokodare have scored just one Premier League goal between them.

Meanwhile Parrott is absolutely thriving.

Last night, the Republic of Ireland booked their place in the play-offs for the 2026 World Cup, after a dramatic ending to their game against Hungary.

It was 2-2 and in the 96th-minute, Parrott popped up to latch on to a flick on by Scales to score a winner, prompting Ireland’s bench to run onto the pitch.

Not only was this a game-winning goal from Parrott, but it was also one to complete his hat-trick.

That’s now five goals in his last two international games for Ireland, after he hit a brace against Portugal earlier in the week.

And Parrott’s efforts for his country this international break come amid a fine start to the domestic season with AZ Alkmaar.

Parrott has already scored 13 in 14 appearances, meaning a total haul of 18 goals for club and country by mid-November.

Parrott’s form is sure to have some at Wolves green with envy.

It was claimed ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window that Wolves liked Parrott, who had enjoyed a stellar first season over in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar.

Unfortunately, a few weeks after that report of interest, there was bad news for Wolves over Parrott, who had stated he wanted to stay at AZ Alkmaar.

Goals – 13
Assists – 2

He still said that it wasn’t up to him what happened, but just that his ultimate desire was to stay put. Perhaps that was what dissuaded Wolves from making an official approach.

It’s understandable if it did, because it’s never ideal to be going after players who don’t actually want to leave their clubs.

But Parrott’s form strongly suggests that Wolves really missed out here, with the 23-year-old already bearing down on the 20 club goals he scored in the entirety of last season.
