Wolves are at the top of the Premier League table – at least in one statistic.
It has been a tough campaign for the Wanderers, who have yet to win a game in the league this season. They have just two points, coming from draws vs Tottenham and Brighton.
The performance against Arsenal did provide some encouragement, and Rob Edwards will be looking to that to inspire more of the same against Brentford on Saturday.
The Bees’ away record offers hope, and Keith Andrews has delivered a boost for the Old Gold after Brentford’s latest team news.
However, at the weekend, Edwards will look to avoid extending their lead at the top of one concerning stat after their trip to the Emirates.
💭 Agree or Disagree: With Brentford likely missing some key attackers on Saturday, Rob Edwards should go bold and play a back four!
Wolves have scored the most own goals since last season

Wolves could have come away from the Emirates with a point, but two own goals would ultimately hand the Wanderers their 14th loss of the season.
Sam Johnstone was unfortunate as the ball ricocheted off the post before Yerson Mosquera accidentally gave Arsenal the lead late on following Tolu Arokodare’s finish.
The Colombian’s own goal was his second of the season, and Mosquera is now close to an unwanted club record.
However, those two own goals have also propelled the Old Gold to the top of the own goal leaderboard.
The Athletic released a league table showing the placements of each team in relation to the number of self-inflicted conceded goals, and Wolves top the charts with seven.
Can Wolves finally win a Premier League game this weekend?
The Bees have the recent advantage…
In second place is Sunderland on six, followed by Brentford on five.
Additionally, Wolves have been on the better side of an own goal on two occasions, and on both, they have come out with at least one point.
The two own goals that benefitted Wolves
When Wolves have been on the positive side of an own goal, they typically go on to get a good result.
The two own goals scored for Wolves have earned the Old Gold four points.
This season, Bart Verbruggen’s own goal from Marshall Munetsi’s strike ultimately earned Wolves one point, although if it were not for a late equaliser by Jean Paul van Hecke, it could have been three points.
Last season, Djed Spence scored in his own net to hand Wolves a 2-0 lead against Tottenham, with the game eventually ending 4-2 to the Old Gold.
Hopefully, with a bit of luck, the own goals start to fall the Wanderers’ way instead. It seems they usually end up getting a positive result when they do.
