Wolves now make decision on £10m player Gary O’Neil really likes, after Sunday scare

Rayan Ait-Nouri is staying with Wolves over the international break rather than joining up with Algeria, after picking up an injury against Aston Villa.

The left-back had been due to join up with his country for the upcoming games against Cape Verde and Egypt.

But the 22-year-old did not last the full game against Villa on Sunday.

He was substituted off at half-time at Molineux and replaced by Matt Doherty.

It turns out Wolves have deemed Ait-Nouri not fit enough to travel, with the player having picked up a concussion against Villa…

It is said that Ait-Nouri actually suffered a concussion during the first-half against Villa.

Wolves doctors are said to have informed the national team that the player cannot actually travel, according to strict protocols.

It is another blow for manager Djamel Belmadi, with Ait-Nouri having also missed a training camp back in June.

This is actually good news for Wolves

It is a bit of shame for Ait-Nouri to miss out on playing for Algeria.

But at least they are only friendlies, and this is actually now a good chance for Ait-Nouri to just catch his breath for a minute.

He has been heavily involved so far this season under Gary O’Neil, who clearly likes him a lot.

The £10 million star has featured in all 10 of Wolves’ games so far, playing a total of 643 minutes.

Wolves officials and coaches will probably be somewhat thankful he is staying behind.
