Pedro Martins is reportedly interested in becoming Wolves’ next manager.

That is according to the Express & Star, who say the 52-year-old is under consideration by Molineux officials.

The Wolves board is now working overtime to find a suitable replacement for Bruno Lage, who was relieved of his duties on Sunday.

Lage oversaw a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday evening.

And by teatime the following day the club had officially announced his departure.

Supposedly, Wolves brought forward their decision upon seeing the backlash from supporters following that 2-0 loss at the London Stadium.

A number of names have already been linked with the managerial vacancy at Molineux.

Martins is thought to among the favourites to succeed Lage.

Apparently he is keen to take the job, and recently turned down an approach from Championship side Hull City.

Martins has been out of work since getting the sack from Olympiacos a couple of months ago.

Martins supposedly has links to Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, and given he is currently unattached, any move for him would likely be relatively simple.

Other names to have been linked with the vacancy since Lage departed include Ruben Amorim, Julen Lopetegui and Ange Postecoglu.

Pedro Martins would be a risky move by Wolves, but he’s an option

Martins is three-time winner of the Greek Super League.

But Olympiacos are obviously one of the biggest clubs in Greece and they’re expected to win the title.

He did well with them, but it would be a big risk from Wolves to move for him.

Wolves will take their time, with Simon Stone of BBC Sport reporting a replacement likely won’t come in before the Chelsea game.

It is really important to get this next appointment right. Failure to do so could very easily lead to a relegation battle come the end of the season.
