Lopetegui is currently the manager of Sevilla. But reports have been swirling that he has come to the end of his time there.

Sevilla have had a poor start to 2022/23, and currently sit 17th in La Liga.

Lopetegui has done very well at the club though before this term, and there is a desire to avoid sacking him and instead give him a dignified ending.

One of the issues Monchi is facing though is having to pay compensation to Lopetegui.

Ideally, he wants to agree upon a settlement with Lopetegui that would be much less than a normal compensation payout, with Wolves apparently showing interest in landing him as their next manager.

It is thought that Jorge Sampaoli is waiting in the wings to take over at Sevilla.

Lopetegui has been in his current job since 2019.

He has enjoyed great success at the Andalusia-based club, the 2020 Europa League triumph against Inter Milan being his biggest achievement.

This, after spending just two months at Real Madrid before getting the sack for a string of bad results.

Lopetegui famously lost his job as the manager of the Spain just before the 2018 World Cup after news broke that he would become Real’s next manager after the tournament.

Julen Lopetegui would be a good appointment by Wolves, as report claims club have tabled a proposal

Lopetegui in as Lage’s replacement would be a good move by Wolves.

It didn’t work out for him at Real, but with Sevilla he has shown himself to be a good manager.

He was linked with the Wolves job before Fosun brought Nuno Espirito Santo in. One wonders whether the owners would fancy finally bringing him to Molineux now there is a vacancy and he seems to be on the way out of Sevilla.

It would perhaps be a little bit more complicated a move than someone like Pedro Martins, who is currently unattached.

Sevilla seemingly want rid, and Wolves are interested so it may take some time over the finances.
