Nuno Espirito Santo may have ruled out a sensational return to Wolves, stating he ‘doesn’t like rumours’.
Over the past few days, the former Molineux boss has been spoken about as a potential successor to Bruno Lage.
He only left 17 months ago. But he has been strongly linked with a move back to the club, after Julen Lopetegui turned the job down.
It had been claimed that Wolves were in talks with Nuno’s representatives (BBC Sport).
And he has been the favourite with some bookmakers.
But it seems a stunning return to Molineux may now be unlikely to happen following some new comments he has made.
Alaa Saeed of Al Jazirah – followed by 2.5 million people on Twitter – quotes him as saying: “I’m with Al-Ittihad and I don’t like rumors.. and my focus is on the Dubai camp.”
These comments will come as a blow to a lot of Wolves supporters. They will also please others.
Nuno to Wolves has been quite a divisive topic on social media in recent days.
It would certainly be some story if he did make a return to the club he enjoyed four successful years at.
Nuno comments seem to suggest he isn’t about to return to Wolves
It is interesting to hear these comments from Nuno, considering reports about his potential return to the club have been gathering pace over the past few days.
They do seem to suggest that he isn’t about take the job.
But he technically doesn’t rule out a return, either.
It will be interesting to see what the coming days bring.
But Wolves cannot spend too much longer without a head coach, because the team remain in a precarious position despite the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
