Wolves next manager latest: Julen Lopetegui would get ‘substantial’ transfer budget in January

Julen Lopetegui is now back in the frame to become Wolves’ new manager – and he would apparently have a ‘substantial’ transfer budget to work with in January.

It has claimed last night that Wolves were back in talks with the 56-year-old.

Lopetegui had initially turned down Wolves’ advances in order to focus on his family.

But out of nowhere, the two parties are back in negotiations, which have been progressing well.

Wolves apparently now feel confident that they will land the Spaniard, after trying two times previously. The first time they tried to get him was years ago, before Nuno Espirito Santo came in.

Lopetegui has been out of work since leaving Sevilla a few weeks ago.

Wolves approached him immediately, but his father’s ill health meant the timing wasn’t really right for him.

But the pictured seems to have changed.

According to 90min, Lopetegui reacted ‘favourably’ to Wolves’ new efforts to land him.

Apparently, the club have given him assurances that he would have a ‘substantial’ transfer budget to work with in January.

Wolves have a great squad already, but many of the players have underperformed so far this season.

There is certainly scope to add a couple more new faces, especially at centre-back and in attack.

It remains to be seen if Wolves can finally get a deal for Lopetegui over the line.

It has been reported that he could potentially be announced next week, but that he may not start until after the World Cup.

Another exciting claim, Wolves look to be giving themselves a fighting chance as they close in on Julen Lopetegui

So Lopetegui is back in talks with Wolves, and it is being suggested he could get a sizeable transfer budget to work with.

These are exciting claims, and hopefully they turn out to be true.

Wolves are in a bad way at the moment, and big changes are required.

It feels like Fosun and the executives at Wolves have felt the pressure from supporters to take decisive action.

They had initially said they’d be keeping Steve Davis in charge until 2023. But it’s now looking like that might not be the case, and that is a good thing.

It’s clear the team need a permanent head coach, and Lopetegui would be a fantastic appointment.
