Wolves midfielder Boubacar Traore out for up to two months with injury

Wolves could be without Boubacar Traore for up to two months with injury.

The midfielder was not a part of Julen Lopetegui’s matchday squad to face Aston Villa last night.

The manager had suggested in his pre-match press conference that Wolves had been affected by an injury, but did not confirm who it was.

It turns out Traore is the player in question.

He had been in the latest training pictures taken over the past few days.

But after the 1-1 draw with Villa, Lopetegui said (via injury analyst Ben Dinnery): “We have an injury with Bouba for, I think, one or two months.

“It’s very bad news for us. We only have four midfielders now in the squad. We have to have more.”

Traore had recently struggled with an injury that prevented him featuring for Wolves in the two games against Empoli and Cadiz in Marbella.

He didn’t make the squad against Gillingham or Everton, but was back on the bench against Manchester United.

It is unclear right now if this setback is related to that injury, or it’s something new.

Either way, it’s a blow for Wolves.

Traore had been looking for prior to the World Cup, and fans would have been hoping to see him kick on and perhaps become a starter at Molineux.

Big blow for Wolves as Boubacar Traore succumbs to injury

This is a really unfortunate development.

Traore is a brilliant young player, who was just starting to find his feet in English football.

He brings dynamism and ball-winning ability to the midfield, and is a completely different option to the rest.

It is a shame Lopetegui will not be able to call on him for at least another month.

It will now be interesting to see how Wolves react. Lopetegui seemingly wants to dip into the transfer market given his comments.
