Vitor Pereira has consistently spoken about Ladislav Krejci’s ability to play in both midfield and defence for Wolves.
The former Girona man used to play in the middle of the pitch for Sparta Prague, but has since become known for his role as a central defender.
However, Krejci’s ability to play two positions was a major reason why the Old Gold purchased him from the La Liga side.
Wolves fans were impressed with Krejci against Newcastle, and the versatility Pereira spoke about was on full show.
The Czech international played in both positions against the Toon, but Krejci has admitted his surprise about the tactical choice.

Ladislav Krejci surprised he played in midfield against Newcastle
Ladislav Krejci played the full 90 minutes at St. James’ Park, but throughout the game, he switched positions.
The Czech international started the match in midfield, and in an interview afterwards, admitted his surprise at the selection.
Krejci spoke after the game with CANAL+ Sport and said, “I thought I would definitely start in central defence. But the coach put me in the middle, which for me was another extra challenge.”
“The last time I played this position was maybe against Hradec, when we went down to ten men with Sparta. I hadn’t played it for about four years. Then I returned to a defensive role, but by that point we were keeping the ball higher up the pitch” he continued.
Despite being surprised at his role, Krejci flourished against Newcastle, and the defender was one of the best performers against the Toon.
The versatility gave his team a flexible tactical approach, and that could be crucial in the upcoming fixtures.

Ladislav Krejci will become a crucial player for Wolves
It is only early days, but it seems clear already the quality that Krejci possesses.
His ability to play in both midfield and defence cannot be overstated.
If Krejci is playing in midfield, Pereira can substitute a defender for an attacker, moving the Czech into the backline instead.
This allows him a more proactive approach in matches. So far, Pereira’s subs have offered little inspiration, but over the weeks that will hopefully change.
The 26-year-old already looks settled into the Wolves squad, and Krejci has already given his thoughts on his new team-mates.
