Wolves issue worrying Jorgen Strand Larsen update and another star a doubt for Brighton

Wolves are hoping to build on their impressive display against Tottenham by picking up what would be an incredible three points against Brighton.

There has been plenty of team news coming out of both camps over the last few days. Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson confirmed Matt Doherty just had surgery and will be out for quite some time.

Meanwhile, Fabian Hurzeler confirmed that Joel Veltman will miss Sunday’s trip, in a blow for the away side.

Vitor Pereira has now been speaking to the media ahead of the game and has delivered an update on Jorgen Strand Larsen’s fitness, as well as putting the involvement of another player in doubt.

Vitor Pereira has delivered some concerning news ahead of Wolves vs Brighton.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been dealing with an achilles issue, and after playing 84 minutes against Tottenham, it seemed he was closer to full fitness.

However, the Old Gold manager has said that Larsen is not quite fully fit.

Pereira confirmed the Norwegian is still training and stated, “Strand Larsen is trying to get better too, but he’s not 100 per cent. He is working with us.”

The striker himself suggested he was still not back up to speed following the game against Spurs.

Meanwhile, he also confirmed Toti Gomes could be a doubt after coming down with the flu.

Toti Gomes would not be much of a loss considering he has been dropped from Wolves’ last two matches. The captain has played just ten minutes across the games against Everton and Tottenham.

However, losing the presence of your leader can still have a negative effect.

The switch to a back four has seen Ladislav Krejci and Santiago Bueno stake a claim to be regular starters in the backline.

Vitor Pereira needs to be careful with Jorgen Strand Larsen

Jorgen Strand Larsen is incredibly important to Wolves, but with the striker admitting himself that he is not fully fit, it makes the fact he played 84 minutes against Tottenham stranger.

Pereira has Tolu Arokodare at his disposal, and the Nigerian can come on in Larsen’s place should he be needed.

There is no point in taking any risks with the health of the Norwegian, and against Brighton, should he play, he should not play anywhere near as long as he did in London.

Pereira could opt to start Arokodare against Brighton to give Larsen more time to heal, but how he sets up his team still remains to be seen.
