Wolves can’t dwell on the disappointment of Saturday’s Aston Villa loss, with Nottingham Forest due at Molineux on Wednesday night.
It’s a quick return to Premier League action as we enter one of the season’s most hectic periods.
Rob Edwards will be hoping to build on a positive Wolves performance, aiming to break a winless streak that is approaching historic levels.
To help in that effort, he will want his best players fit and firing. Edwards was hopeful on Monday to have Krejci available, but wasn’t giving any guarantees.
Now, some new information has come to light, as well as updates for two other stars.
Four of the last six Premier League meetings between Wolves and Nottingham Forest have been drawn, with each side winning once each.
Rob Edwards provides team news on Ladislav Krejci, Joao Gomes, and Matt Doherty
The last thing Wolves need is to be weakened by injuries during such a tough period.
Unfortunately, that’s the nature of football.
Speaking to the press (via Wolves app), Edwards gave an update on Joao Gomes, Matt Doherty and Ladislav Krejci.
Let’s start with the good news. Despite picking up a knock against Villa, Gomes is fit to play.
As for Doherty, Edwards says: “He trained with us today, so we’ll see. We’ll have a look, he’s been out for a little while, so whether he’s right to start right now [needs to be determined]… He might be in a position where he can be involved in the squad.”
Positive news given how long Doherty has been dealing with injuries.

As for the Czech star, it’s less positive. Edwards reveals: “Yeah, he was out on the grass today. He didn’t train with the group – I don’t think he’ll be ready for tomorrow – but he was out there doing some running with the S&C team and the physios. So, we’re hoping he’s not far away.”
A blow for Wolves. Krejci’s absence will be felt more than most, but at least he’s doing some training and it doesn’t look like a long-term thing.
This is as good a chance at three points as Edwards will get
Forest have certainly looked improved since Dyche took over, and have dragged themselves out of the drop zone.
But only just.
Forest are in 17th, and are one of the sides Wolves could need to overtake in order to survive in the Premier League.

Towards the end of Vitor Pereira’s tenure, Wolves faced off against Burnley and Sunderland — games that were seen as must-win in order for the Portuguese to keep his job.
They didn’t, and he didn’t. Now, Forest looks like as close as we’ll get to an even contest before the turn of the new year.

As such, pressure will be on Wolves to deliver, and though he is new to the role, pressure will surely be on Edwards as well.
