Wolves issue Hugo Bueno injury update ahead of Brentford showdown

Hugo Bueno has had some injury issues over the last few weeks, and an update on his fitness for Brentford has been issued.

Bueno was not in Wolves’ squad to face Arsenal last weekend due to a minor adductor issue, and Rob Edwards would have been hoping for a swift return, mainly due to his lack of defensive options right now.

Ever since Edwards arrived, the Spanish wingback has found himself out of the starting XI, but his head coach issued a rallying cry to Bueno on how to get back in.

However, whether or not he will have a chance to do so against Brentford has been confirmed in Rob Edwards’ press conference.

💭 Agree or Disagree: With Brentford likely missing some key attackers on Saturday, Rob Edwards should go bold and play a back four!

Dango Ouattara is at AFCON, Igor Thiago is a doubt, and Edwards is down two CBs in Emmanuel Agbadou and Yerson Mosquera…

Wolves have quite a few injury issues at present. Marshall Munetsi is still out for a couple of weeks; meanwhile, returns for Rodrigo Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde will have to wait until the New Year.

However, ahead of facing Brentford, Edwards has been handed another blow after sharing an update on Hugo Bueno’s fitness.

Speaking during his pre-Brentford conference, Edwards said, “It will also be too soon for Hugo Bueno, but he should be ready next week.”

Keith Andrews has also given an update on Brentford’s injury issues, which include two key stars.

That will, of course, be a major blow for the head coach, particularly this week with a lack of defensive options.

The Wanderers are down two defenders with Yerson Mosquera suspended and Emmanuel Agbadou away at AFCON.

However, the injury news could now open the door for Santiago Bueno to try and impress Rob Edwards.

The Uruguayan formed a formidable partnership with Ladislav Krejci under Vitor Pereira, and it looked like the duo could have been Wolves’ long-term solution at the back.

Santiago Bueno, however, has yet to be given any minutes by the Portuguese’s successor this season.
