Wolverhampton Wanderers completed the transfer of Matt Doherty yesterday on a free-transfer.
Wolves have successfully brought back the ex-player as the club’s first incoming of the summer.
Doherty had been at Atletico Madrid last season however left following the campaign’s conclusion.
The Republic of Ireland international originally left Wolves for Tottenham Hotspurs in a £15million move.
But now he’s back, for free, to help Wolves push toward a top 10 finish.
His return has been welcomed by ex-Wolves captain Conor Coady, who has sent a message to Doherty.

Coady sends a message
Doherty and Coady were two pivotal parts of the Wolves side which had pushed for Europe under Nuno Espírito Santo.
But while Doherty has returned, Coady finds himself at Leicester City in the Championship looking to help them recover.
However Coady clearly still cares about what is happening at the Molineux as he sent a message to Doherty as he announced his return.
Doherty, taking to Instagram, posted a photo of himself with the caption:
“What a pleasure it is for me to represent this great club again. Time to work”.
To this, Coady commented a heartfelt reply, saying: “I love to see it my brother”.
Clearly these two are still as close as ever despite their differing clubs.
Will Doherty make the difference
Doherty returns to no doubt re-establish himself in his favoured right-back role.
His defensive and offensive acumen will be required as Wolves look to improve both their goals scored and goals conceded records which led them to a poor -27 goal difference.
Therefore you would have to imagine that Doherty’s experience will be of benefit to Julen Lopetegui.
Another leader in the dressing room is a huge plus, given the departure of multiple leaders including Ruben Neves this summer.
