Wolves have a truly scary threat in £10m player as official Premier League statistic emerges

Vitor Pereira will be hoping to get the ball rolling for Wolves after the international break – and the manager appears to now boast one player who could do some serious damage.

Wolves have lost their first three games in the Premier League.

Fans didn’t really expect a great start to the new season and sure enough, Wolves have not picked up a single point so far, losing to Manchester City, Bournemouth and Everton.

Things don’t get any easier after the international break, with Newcastle United next up at St. James’ Park.

But there will be some faint optimism going into the game, and it will be interesting to see who Pereira goes with at right wing-back.

Rodrigo Gomes is a man in form at the moment having scored twice for Wolves.

But Jackson Tchatchoua is a more natural option, and did start against Everton.

A lot was made about Tchatchoua’s pace when he arrived at Wolves.

The club have been keen to let it be known he’s quick, mentioning it in their scout report of the player and in social media posts.

He arrived having been clocked as the fastest player in Serie A last season.

And already in 2025/26, Tchatchoua is officially the fastest player in the Premier League, having been clocked at a top speed of 37.3km/hr (23.2m/hr).

This is a whole 1km/hr ahead of the next fastest player, Bryan Mbeumo of Manchester United.

Fastest players in PL so far (2025/26)
Jackson Tchatchoua (Wolves) 37.3
Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United) 36.3
Dan James (Leeds) 36.1
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton) 36.1
Anthony Elanga (Newcastle) 36.0

He is comfortably leading right now, and that searing pace has the potential to provide a major threat on the right side for Wolves.

This statistic is impressive on its own, but also amazing in the wider context of the Premier League.

The Premier League say Tchatchoua’s speed of 37.30km/hr is actually the third-fastest in the competition’s history.

Only Micky van de Ven (37.38km/hr) and Kyle Walker (37.31km/hr) have been clocked going faster in past years.

Tchatchoua must provide end product for Wolves

It is perhaps no surprise to see Tchatchoua climb to the top of this chart.

The £10 million signing (BBC Sport) has looked absolutely rapid so far, and the Cameroon international could genuinely do a lot of damage on that right side.

It’s all well and good being fast, but Tchatchoua has to ensure there’s a decent end product to boot.

He’s shown he can deliver – he already has one assist for the club so far, which came on his Molineux debut against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

Tchatchoua left fans buzzing at his display against West Ham, but he couldn’t really build on it against Everton.

A criticism of Nelson Semedo was that he didn’t supply as many goals or assists as he perhaps should have, given the positions he got himself into.

Tchatchoua has to try and be better than his predecessor in that regard.
