The 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off this weekend – and Vitor Pereira is hoping to continue impressing at Wolves.
Vitor Pereira did a fantastic job after coming in midway through last season at Molineux.
Wolves were in a world of trouble, languishing in the relegation zone with a dressing room that was very emotional.
But he breathed new life into the players, bought well in January and managed to guide Wolves well clear of the relegation zone by the end of the season.
Pereira has the potential to do great things with this team. It is simply about how well he is backed.
So far, only three new players have come in, while many more have departed, leading to concern within the fanbase.
There’s also a great deal of frustration, after it was claimed earlier this summer that ‘the penny had dropped’ for Wolves executives and that the need to spend more to avoid relegation battles was acknowledged.
But Pereira believes one of those players can become ‘a surprise’ at Molineux.
Vitor Pereira drops exciting verdict on new Wolves signing Fer Lopez

It seems like an age ago now when Wolves signed Fer Lopez.
He arrived towards the end of June and has been with Wolves for both of the pre-season trips to Portugal and Spain.
Lopez has impressed fans in pre-season.
And Pereira has also liked what he’s seen from his first summer recruit – and believes the Spaniard could actually surprise a few people this season.
He told Wolves’ official website: “He’s a very good talent. He has very good skills and is another player who needs some time, but for sure, he will be a good surprise for us.
“Football is about connections and friendships, and Larsen is not only friends with Fer, but with Wolfe too. He’s very connected with both of them.
“But he is a positive guy, with good mentality, a strong mentality, and it’s important to create this, because football is not only about the tactical things, the technical things, it’s about creating the right mentality to compete, and this is what we are trying to do.”
Patience required over Fer Lopez
It is great to hear Pereira already praising Lopez.
Wolves have paid a lot of money for him and there are expectations, so it would be brilliant if he was able to settle really quickly and make an impact.
Steve Bull recently urged patience over Lopez, just as Pereira has now, and that will definitely be important.
Ultimately, he is still only 21 and has not actually been playing senior football for very long – at Celta Vigo he only made 20 appearances for them.
But the early noises are positive, and Pereira seemingly believes he can be of use from the off.
