Wolves travel to Fulham this weekend following the international break as they aim to build on the win over Southampton.
Wolves were 2-0 victors over the Saints 11 days ago thanks to goals from Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha.
It was a win that moved Gary O’Neil’s men off the bottom of the Premier League and up to 19th, though their fortunes since the break have been mixed.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
19 | 11 | 1 | 3 | 7 | 16 | 27 | -11 | 6 |
While some of their stars have flourished on the international stage, with loanee Fabio Silva receiving his Portugal debut, O’Neil has been dealt an injury to Santiago Bueno.
Bueno suffered a groin problem while on duty with Uruguay and the 26-year-old has since returned to Compton.
That isn’t the only bad news Wolves have received ahead of the trip to Fulham, as the refereeing announcement could cause some controversy.

Rob Jones named as referee for Fulham vs Wolves
Rob Jones has been named as the referee for Wolves clash against Fulham this weekend and the 37-year-old is vastly experienced across the Premier League and Championship.
Jones has been the man in the middle for 11 Wolves matches, with the Old Gold tasting four victories, three draws and four defeats.
The Englishman’s disciplinary record across those matches also makes for interesting reading, as he’s handed out 20 yellow cards and one red, as per Transfermarkt.
Meanwhile, he’s also given two penalties in games involving the Wanderers and one of those awarded last season left O’Neil feeling angered.
Gary O’Neil branded Jones as ‘terrible’ against Sheffield United in 2023
Last season, Sheffield United recorded their first victory of the Premier League campaign against Wolves in controversial circumstances.
The game was heading to a 1-1 draw but in the dying embers, a penalty was given for a ‘foul’ by Fabio Silva. Replays showed, though, that George Baldock was already going to ground.
Gary Lineker labelled Sheffield United’s penalty a ‘stinking decision’. Likewise, BBC pundits Martin Keown and Danny Murphy couldn’t believe a spot kick was awarded.

Pundits analysing the error post-match weren’t the only ones left confused, as Wolves boss O’Neil felt it was never a penalty and branded referee Jones as ‘terrible’.
An angry O’Neil said via Birmingham Live: “It is not a penalty, hardly any contact. I don’t understand why he feels the need to give it. Pause, take your time, it’s not about you. If you have made a clear and obvious error there, VAR will tell you after.
“I’ve been in with him, and he still thinks it’s a penalty, he still says there is contact. The only contact I can see is maybe Fabio’s shinpad with Baldock’s calf, like a graze.
“Baldock is already on his way down. I am sitting there watching it with him and he still says it is a penalty, which tells me we are in a pretty bad spot because that is never, ever a penalty.
“If you give a foul for that contact there would be one million fouls in the 90 minutes. Because of the wording we use, VAR can’t intervene because it is not deemed clear and obvious. Craziness.
Wolves felt hard done by on that occasion and they will hope Jones doesn’t make a similar error of misjudgment when they take on Fulham this weekend.
