Wolves given timely boost as Leeds United hit by fresh injury doubt

Wolves face Leeds United this weekend, hoping to secure their first points of the Premier League season.

The newly-promoted side has exceeded expectations so far, picking up all three points against Everton and securing a draw against Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, the Old Gold have produced underwhelming performances that have left the club at the bottom of the league.

Anthony Taylor will be the referee for the match against Leeds, a figure who has previously been involved in controversial moments for Wolves.

While the West Midlands outfit has struggled this season, it is Leeds who have been hit by a fresh injury blow ahead of the encounter.

Leeds could be without Daniel James against Wolves

After four consecutive losses, Pereira spoke of the need for time to raise the level at Wolves.

While the Portuguese manager will be without talisman Jorgen Strand Larsen, it is Leeds who are suffering from a mini injury crisis.

As reported by LeedsLive, Daniel James is now a doubt for this weekend’s game alongside Lucas Perri and Joel Piroe.

The Welshman took a knock shortly after coming on as a substitute against Fulham and was unable to see the game out despite carrying on for a few more minutes.

Lucas Perri will almost definitely miss the trip to Molineux, as he remains sidelined with a quad injury.

Meanwhile, Piroe was not selected in the squad against Fulham and remains a doubt for this important clash.

How Wolves have fared against Leeds

The Old Gold have faced Leeds several times in recent seasons; however this match carries even more importance given the club’s need for points early in the season.

Wolves may have lost their opening four games for the first time in 127 years, but Leeds have had a bit of a wobble of their own.

The Old Gold have struggled in recent meetings, with their last league victory coming back in 2021.

Recent encounters suggest that Leeds have an advantage this weekend, however Wolves will be determined to improve their record and pick up their first points of the season.
