Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has suffered an injury

Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has reportedly suffered an injury.

The 21-year-old has just missed out on being selected for the Algeria national team.

Ait-Nouri has really struggled at Wolves since Julen Lopetegui came in.

The youngster made a decent start with some important contributions as a substitute. And he actually did scoop Wolves’ Player of the Month award for December.

But it’s been all downhill since then, with Ait-Nouri barely featuring.

The manager has preferred to use the likes of Toti Gomes and Hugo Bueno at left-back.

In March, Ait-Nouri made a substitute appearance against Newcastle United, and he was criticised for the Magpies’ second goal coming down his side of the pitch.

He got caught high up and out of position, and seemingly Lopetegui was left unimpressed.

Ait-Nouri was then left out of the next seven matchday squads.

He did not play another minute for Wolves until the final game against Arsenal last weekend. And he put in a poor showing which was perhaps to be expected given his lack of game time.

Ait-Nouri ended up missing out on the Algeria squad.

But according to Shoot Africa, the former Angers star has actually picked up an adductor injury.

They say that a reliable source has confirmed that manager Djamel Belmadi was actually going to summon Ait-Nouri.

But it was decided he would not be called up due to this issue.

Frustration for Rayan Ait-Nouri as injury prevents him being called up to Algeria squad

Ait-Nouri must have suffered this adductor injury during the game with Arsenal. Because he surely would not have played against the Gunners if he was already carrying a knock.

It is frustrating for the youngster, who will have been hoping for a chance at international level given his serious lack of minutes for Wolves.

We will now see how long he’ll be out for.

But Algeria don’t have any more games until September.

One wonders if by the time that game against Tanzania rolls around, Ait-Nouri will even still be a Wolves player.
