Wolves flop Sasa Kalajdzic aiming to repeat Erling Haaland trick to end injury nightmare

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic is taking a leaf from Erling Haaland’s book on his road to recovery after sustaining another ACL injury whilst on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic is looking to Erling Haaland in the next step of his recovery from injury.

The Austrian was hauled off during a fixture for his loan club, Eintracht Frankfurt, during his sixth appearance for the Bundesliga outfit with tests later revealing that he had sustained another ACL tear

Gary O’Neil’s aim for Kalajdzic was to send him on loan to gain minutes and get back to full fitness after returning from an ACL tear last season, making his latest injury a tragedy.

It’s hard luck for the 26-year-old, who has now suffered three ACL blows in his career on top of a host of other injury woes that have seen him away from action for over 1000 days of his career.

Now, the striker looks set to bring his miserable time with injury to a halt, with reports revealing a strategy he is taking on his road to recovery.

How Sasa Kalajdzic is following in Erling Haaland’s footsteps

As reported by German outlet BILD, Kalajdzic has returned to his homeland in an attempt to boost his recovery with the help of Franz Leberbauer.

Leberbauer is dubbed by BILD as a ‘physio-guru’ for his work with professional athletes and is said to be well-known in the industry for helping footballers with their rehabilitation.

The 68-year-old has a fan in Premier League dynamo Erling Haaland, who recovered quickly from an injury thanks to Leberbauer’s help earlier in his career.

What is next for Sasa Kalajdzic at Wolves

With any luck, Kalajdzic will return to Molineux at the end of the season, and after his treatment, with a similar scoring streak to Haaland.

The 26-year-old has had a treacherous time since joining Wolves for £15m on deadline day in 2022, missing almost the entirety of last season with his second ACL tear.

It’s been a nightmare time for the Austrian who not only can’t seem to get a break from injury but has had to endure the gruelling process of recovering from an ACL tear twice already in his career.

Hopefully, the Wolves forward will seek the right help in Leberbauer’s care in order to reignite his career in the Premier League, particularly as he is contracted with the Old Gold until 2027.

We previously detailed how the deal made for Kalajdzic has been branded as a mistake due to his injury record, in what has been a trialling time for the forward when it comes to his career absences.

It’s an unfortunate situation not only for the player but for Wolves too, who will have little option to manoeuvre a sale or loan move for the striker in the near future, despite his contract running for a further three years.
